In short: on the free tools, your birth details stay in your browser. When you order a reading, we use your details only to prepare it. We never sell your data.
Who is responsible
Bazi Garden, an independent project run by a small team based in China, is responsible for your personal data on this Site. You can reach us through our contact form.
What we collect, and why
- Birth details you type in (date, time, birth sex, the name you enter for name ideas). Charts are calculated in your browser. Your details are saved only in your own browser (local storage) so the page remembers them, and you can clear them at any time by clearing site data.
- When you ask for a free AI reading or AI name ideas, we send the calculated chart (the eight characters and element counts, not your date of birth) or the name and preferences you entered to our AI provider to generate the text. We may keep the generated text, linked only to an anonymous code of the chart, so the same chart does not need to be generated twice.
- When you order a reading: your email, name, birth date, time, place and sex (and, for a compatibility reading, the same details for the other person, which you confirm you are allowed to share), plus any note you add. We use these to prepare and deliver your reading, to contact you about your order and to keep records. Our team, including the Bazi reader preparing your reading, sees these details. If your reading is AI-assisted, your chart details may be processed by our AI provider. Legal basis: performing our contract with you.
- Payment is handled by our payment provider. We do not see or store your card details.
- Messages you send us through our contact form: your name, email address and message. We use them only to reply and keep them for up to 2 years. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you.
- Your email address, if you subscribe to our letters or join a waitlist, plus what you chose to hear about, any note you add, the date and the country we detect from your connection. We use this only to email you about what you signed up for. Legal basis: your consent.
- Technical data. To enforce daily limits and prevent abuse, we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for up to two days. Our hosting provider also processes standard server logs.
We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We do not sell your personal data.
Who processes data for us
- Cloudflare (website hosting and storage), which may process data in the United States and other countries.
- DeepSeek (AI text generation), which processes the requests described above on servers in the People's Republic of China.
- Our payment provider (for example Creem or PayPal), which processes payments as an independent controller under its own privacy policy.
- A group-chat tool our team uses to be notified of new orders.
- An email service provider to send our letters, once we start sending them. We will name it here when it is in use.
Some of these transfers are to countries that may not offer the same level of data protection as your own. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. Please do not include sensitive information in free-text fields.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for up to 3 years so we can answer follow-up questions and meet accounting rules, unless you ask us to delete them sooner where the law allows. Email sign-ups are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Hashed IP data is kept for up to two days. Cached AI text is kept for up to 30 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or state laws in the US), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to withdraw consent, and to object to processing. Write to us through our contact form and we will respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Unsubscribing
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. You can also write to us through our contact form and we will remove you.
Age
The Site is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We will update this page if our practices change, and update the date at the top.
